Students from 10 CCAs gathered for one massive camp

25 Sep 2024

Let’s learn from one another and make good memories! First introduced in 1989, the biennial National Camp is where cadets across Singapore from all nine Uniformed Groups, together with students from the Singapore Youth Flying Club CCA, come together to share experiences and exchange skills.

This is the first National Camp in six years since Covid-19 hit. Watch the highlights reel of the three-day event to catch all the action!

Outdoor adventures, tent pitching, campfires… and lots of fun! You’d expect nothing less from a camp with our Uniformed Groups (UGs). And what more when all nine UGs, plus the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC), come together for one camp?

The National Camp is where students of the nine UGs from different schools and backgrounds come together to share ideas and build camaraderie by undergoing a common, shared experience.

This year, the National Camp ran from 21 to 24 August 2024 at Maju Camp with the theme “United in Diversity”. It was the first such camp in six years since Covid-19 hit. Its goal? To nurture a deeper sense of national identity in students, and instil in them, a commitment to actively contribute to Singapore’s safety and security as part of Total Defence. Part of the experience includes the interaction between the different UGs and SYFC to learn about skillsets that are unique to their groups.

One of the key activities was a simulated exercise on resource scarcity under the Total Defence Experience. “The campers experienced water rationing, and had to bid for food that they normally would take for granted,” says Captain (National Cadet Corps) Lim Ming Han, Commander Land (Central) with the National Cadet Corps Land. The simulation aimed to deepen campers’ understanding of national security and strengthen their resolve to contribute actively to Singapore’s resilience.

The camp is organised by the National Cadet Corps in collaboration with Girl Guides Singapore, National Civil Defence Cadet Corps, National Police Cadet Corps, Red Cross Youth, Singapore Scouts Association, St. John Brigade, The Boys’ Brigade and The Girls’ Brigade.
